So our friends purchased 2 of these Mosquito Killers to use on our annual camping trip. I was impressed as in the morning these little but powerful sapper where full of Mosquitos, moths and other bugs. So we were camping for 3 days and had the dilemma of trying to figure out how to clean the wires. There wasn't any cleaning instruction in the product box. So my husband recommend putting the sappers on some ant hills that were at our camp site. We found this quite entertaining as the ants made quick work of cleaning the bugs out of the sapper.
I like the shape and soft white glow of the light. It also does not make a zapping noise or pop the insects when they land on it. It quietly kills them. The insects are easily rinsed off. We put five of these in the tree and it looks fine. On the flip side, the hook to is very small and only fit thin branches. This also only zaps mosquitoes and smaller flying insects. Mosquitoes are definitely a problem but we have lots of flying insects larger than mosquitoes as well. Finally, it has to be charged (no batteries) for a few hours and lasts about 10 hours.
As you can see, it works. You will smell a burnt hair smell if a bigger mosquito gets into it. When charging it starts as red light and then turns to a green light when it’s charged. I’ve been using the bug zapper function between 8 and 12 hours, but I don’t use the lamp function since I am at home and not camping. It doesn’t take long to change the light again, so likely there’s still quite a charge remaining on it. I wish it had a charge indicator, but it’s still functional without it.
WOW! It killed all the bugs in our tent within a couple of hours... I just hung it in there after we set up the bed and way before bedtime the bugs were dead! My photo doesn't even show all the dead bugs, they were on all sides. Also I didn't have to charge the light during our 3 day trip which was great! Our tent is rated for about 6 people so if you have a huge tent, you'd at least want one more of these.
Great little bug zapper! Washes off easily and has a hook where you can hang it from a nail or twig if you like. Mine when fully charged lasts at least 24 hrs with just the bug light on. As for the lantern itself I have only used it a couple times on the high setting for about 5 hrs each time, worked great! As you see in the photo, it does kill more than just mosquitos.
Was going to use in Puerto Rico for the bug zapper ability. I was pleasantly surprised how many mosquitos were caught every night. And that included using it outside on a balcony!
Pretty neat and efficient lantern. I put it out on the back patio last night for about 30 mins to test the buz zapper portion of it, and within that short amount of time, it captured probably 30 flying insects, different types. I'm pleased with it. I'd rate it 5 stars if only it had a solar charging option.
So far I have left the bug light on overnight in my house twice. There are several gnats tat have gone in and died, but I didn’t get the mosquito that was flying around. The battery is still going after leaving it on for those two nights, so that makes me happy! I will see if it ever catches any mosquitoes!
Recommend by a fellow RVer. I was skeptical but happily wrong. When fully charged it lasted in the camper over night. I wasn’t sure it worked but upon closer inspection the bug light wires had numerous bugs zapped. Need a thin brush to remove the bodies. Happy with product!
This unit works well and will kill some bugs !
I use mine mostly inside my tent at night, it has a soft purple glow to it when just the bug light is on that is a nice night light and it will attract the bugs to it and kill'em.
l don't think it is very effective in large open spaces because of it's size.
The 3 level light switch is nice with super bright, medium bright and low light.
You can use the white light and the bug light at the same time or separately and the battery will last all night.
When charging, there is a red led that switches to green when fully charged and charge time is very fast.
Sense it is water prof you can just rinse it off in the morning and you are good to go again.
I bought this for a recent camping trip because mosquitos love me and I was hoping to create a more enjoyable experience by exterminating them at my camp site. We did get a lot of use from the lantern which conveniently hooked to the top of our tent and illuminated the whole 3 person tent for reading, looking for gear, etc. Keeps you from getting bit up in your tent but not for large spaces.
Light is bright when using to illuminate a small area. It appears to attract and kill the bugs
The light part is quite nice. The soft silicone cover diffuses light well, doesn't hurt your head if you bonk into it, the 3 brightness levels are nicely spaced.
